The United Nations Association of New York Launches the Worldview Institute
The Worldview Institute UNA-NYC held its inaugural session on Wednesday, September 12, 2007. The opening seminar was hosted at the Hungarian Mission in New York City. After a reception, UNA-NYC Executive Director Ann Nicol gave opening remarks and introduced Hungarian Ambassador Gabor Brodi who welcomed the first Worldview Institute class to his mission.
The first Worldview Institute class was filled to capacity, capped at 25 participants to foster an interactive environment. Ambassador Ahmed Kamal, former Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations and current Senior Fellow at the United Nations Institute of Training and Research, was the opening speaker. Topics included a critical look at the history and definition of globalization, an introduction to the United Nations and its role in the global political scene, and current international issues facing the United Nations. A lively discussion followed the talk, and Ambassador Kamal was kind enough to stay afterwards to sign copies of his book The Law of Cyber-Space which he generously provided to each Worldview Institute participant.
The Fall semester of the Worldview Institute runs from September to December of 2007. For more information on the course, contact Ann Nicol at anicol@unanyc.org.
